Governance & trust

Governance: approval gates, a full audit log, and one-click rollback

You don't want AI silently editing your workbook. HISAB 360 is built so you stay in control of every change: choose how much the agent is allowed to do, approve writes before they happen, see a complete log of what changed, and undo any of it. Local-first by design, so your data stays on your machine.

Four operating modes - you decide how far the agent goes

Pick the level of autonomy that fits the task. Each mode sets a hard ceiling on what the AI can do, so it can never quietly cross a line you didn't set. Ask-only: the agent reads and answers questions, but makes no changes at all. Plan: it proposes a step-by-step plan for your review before anything runs. Action: it carries out the work, subject to your approval settings. Automate: it runs multi-step jobs end to end - useful once you trust a repeatable workflow. You can switch modes at any time, and drop back to Ask-only whenever you want a read-only second opinion.

Per-write approval: Auto or Ask-each

On top of operating modes, you control how individual writes are confirmed. In Ask-each, the agent pauses before every change and shows you what it intends to do - which cells, ranges, formulas, or formatting it will touch - so nothing happens without your go-ahead. In Auto, approved actions run without stopping, for when you're working fast and watching the sheet. Both honor the operating mode you've set, so approval is the second layer of control, not a way around the first.

A full audit log of every AI change in Excel

Every change the agent makes is journaled to an audit log. You get a running record of what was done and where, so an AI edit is never a black box. This is the answer to the obvious question - what did it actually touch? - and it's there whether you're reviewing your own session or showing a colleague or auditor how a number got into the workbook. Nothing the agent does is hidden from you.

One-click rollback and auto-backup

Mistakes happen - with people and with AI. HISAB 360 takes an automatic backup before operations and supports rollback/undo, so you can reverse a change you didn't want. If a step goes the wrong direction, step it back rather than rebuilding the sheet by hand. The safety net is on by default, not an afterthought you have to remember to switch on.

Local-first: is AI in Excel safe with my data?

Your workbook data stays on the machine. HISAB 360 does not upload your files. To do its work, the agent sends only the minimum context the AI needs - sheet names, ranges, headers, and a few sample rows - never your full dataset. ERP credentials are encrypted with Windows DPAPI and are never sent to the AI. And because you run your own AI account through the add-in, your prompts and that context go to your AI provider under your own terms, with no HISAB 360 middle layer storing them.

Bring your own AI, keep your own boundaries

HISAB 360 runs your own AI CLI - Anthropic Claude Code or OpenAI Codex - through a local server on your machine. That means the governance controls here sit between the AI and your workbook, not between you and a vendor's cloud. You set the mode, you approve the writes, you keep the log, and you can roll back. The agent is powerful, but it operates inside fences you control.

Frequently asked questions

Is AI in Excel safe with my data?

Yes - HISAB 360 is local-first. Your workbook stays on your machine and is never uploaded. The agent sends only sheet names, ranges, headers, and a few sample rows to your AI provider, and ERP credentials are DPAPI-encrypted and never sent to the AI.

Can I stop the AI from editing my workbook without my approval?

Yes. Use Ask-only mode for read-only answers, or set per-write approval to Ask-each so the agent pauses and shows you every change before it happens. You approve writes one at a time, or not at all.

Does HISAB 360 keep an audit log of AI changes in Excel?

Yes. Every change the agent makes is journaled to an audit log, giving you a complete record of what was done and where - so an AI edit is never a black box.

Can I undo or roll back a change the AI made?

Yes. HISAB 360 takes an automatic backup before operations and supports one-click rollback/undo, so you can reverse a change you didn't intend without rebuilding the sheet.

What is the difference between the operating modes?

Ask-only makes no changes; Plan proposes steps for your review first; Action carries out work subject to your approval settings; Automate runs multi-step jobs end to end. You can switch modes at any time.

Does the AI see my whole spreadsheet?

No. The agent receives only the minimum context it needs - sheet names, ranges, headers, and sample rows. Your full dataset and files stay local and are not sent to the AI or uploaded anywhere.
